Hiking

Summer Activities for Active Families: Family Hiking

Hiking is a great low-key activity for families. It’s a great way to get outdoors and enjoy nature.

To find hiking trails near you go to TrailLink. Down at the bottom, it has an area where you can search for trails by your state.

You can also simply google “hiking trails near me” to get some local options.

If hiking feels like a bit much, you could also go for nature walks at your local park or neighborhood.

Bike rides

Bike riding is a great way to stay active as a family. It’s super easy to hop on your bikes and take a nice ride around your neighborhood. If you are looking for different scenery, you can search for local trails at TrailLink. Simply put in your zip code and search.

If you have kids who are too young to keep up with everyone else on their bikes you can always look into getting a tow behind bike trailer. We had one when my oldest was a toddler and she loved it!

Nature walks

Nature walks are another great family activity to do this summer. If you have younger kids you can simply take a walk around and do neighborhood scavenger hunts. If you have older kids, you can head to a local park or camping ground and see what you can find.
