Thinking about getting your child into coding? Read through this Eureka Champs review to learn about this fun online coding class for kids!
As a homeschool parent, I’m all about the extra opportunities to learn new things. Homeschooling gives so much more time to really dive into things that interest my kids.
And one of those things is coding. My children are following right in my husband’s footsteps and love all things computer games including Minecraft and Roblox.
They especially love creating their own games and building things in their own little online worlds. So when we got an opportunity to try out Eureka Champs Online Coding Classes, my daughter didn’t hesitate to jump on it.
In this Eureka Champs review, I’ll give you all the details on what this program is, how it works, and whether or not it will be a good fit for your family.
Let’s dive in!

I was compensated for my time reviewing Eureka Champs and writing this post. This post reflects my personal opinion about the information provided.
What is Eureka Champs?
Eureka Champs is a program that offers live, online coding classes for kids. Within the class, you meet up with a live instructor that helps walk you through the coding process step-by-step.
The teacher helps guide you through creating different projects and games with the coding software. The live classes allow instant feedback and help, so you never have to worry about your child being stuck or confused about a coding problem.

Grade/Age Range
Eureka Champs Online Coding Classes are meant for children ages 6-10. My daughter, who is 8 tried out their free trial class.
My son, who is 5 was very interested in building his own game after watching his sister go through it. With his experience building with games like Roblox, I think he would have been able to use the coding platform, but I think he would have had a hard time interacting with the instructor at his age.
Eureka Champs is planning to expand its classes in the future for children ages 11-14.
What’s included with your purchase
Classes are offered in 8-hour packages. Each class is an hour long and you meet one day a week.
Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive your class time and start date. You’ll then get a Zoom meeting link via email within 48 hours.
Class sizes are kept small with only up to 4 students. This allows the instructor to make sure each student gets the help they need to get the most out of the classes.
The price of the class also includes access to the coding learning platforms that will be used.

How Eureka Champs Online Coding Classes work
In the next part of this Eureka Champs review, I want to cover how the classes work. Each class is taught by friendly, qualified instructors who undergo in-person training and background checks.
Knowing this helped me feel a bit more comfortable with my child being on a Zoom call one-on-one with another adult when she did her free trial class. The normal classes will have up to 4 students on the Zoom call with the instructor.
Eureka Champs uses Minecraft Education, Tynker, and Construct 3 software to help teach coding. You can head to their website to learn more about how they use each coding program in their classes.
My daughter used the Tynker program for her class. First, the instructor logged her into the Tynker platform and walked her through how to use the block coding.
She got to practice learning the software and how to set up code to make the characters on the screen do different activities. Then she got to work on creating and designing her own game.
The instructor walked her through every step of the process and was able to make suggestions or offer encouragement. By the time she was done, she had created a mini-game that she was quite proud of.
How does Minecraft Education work?
One of the coding programs the Eureka Champs Online Coding Classes uses is Minecraft Education.
Minecraft is a game that most kids are already familiar with and enjoy playing. In the class, they will learn how to create different structures, characters, and objects within the game.
Similar to regular Minecraft, Minecraft Education allows students to build with blocks in an immersive 3D world. Within the platform, they have a built-in code editor that children can use to learn coding fundamentals.
The coding language Minecraft Education uses is Java.
How does Tynker work?
Another one of the programs Eureka Champs uses to help teach coding is Tynker. Tynker is a visual programming language that helps kids learn to code without all the frustration.
Tynker uses a puzzle-based approach that allows kids to progress at their own pace. Each step or piece of code connects like a puzzle piece to the step before it.
I think this visual approach to coding makes it much more accessible to kids. They get to see how each piece of code affects the overall project.
Tynker offers a selection of coding languages including:
- Block Coding
- HTML & CSS
- Java
- JavaScript
- MicroPython
- Python 3 Computing
- Python 3 Interactive
- p5.js
How does Construct 3 work?
Construct 3 is a cloud-based game creation platform that is used by Eureka Champs to teach kids how to code. It’s an easy-to-use platform that helps kids create 2D games without any prior coding experience.
With Construct 3, kids can create games using a drag-and-drop interface. This makes it a great platform for kids who are just starting out with coding.
Construct 3 also offers a visual programming interface that allows kids to progress at their own pace. Each step or piece of code connects like a puzzle piece to the step before it.
Construct 3 starts beginners off using block coding and advances to writing JavaScript code.
Our Experience With Eureka Champs Online Coding Classes
The next part of this Eureka Champs review will be all about our own personal experience using the program. As I mentioned before, my daughter got to take the free hour-long trial class and it was an absolute hit!
She had so much fun with her class. She was able to create a little mini-game within the hour and she had everyone in our family try it out when she was finished.
After watching her go through the trial class, I would definitely recommend this program to anyone who wants to get their child into coding.
What we liked about Eureka Champs
Here are some of the specific things my daughter and I enjoyed about Eureka Champs:
Hands off for parents
I love that I didn’t have to do anything but sit back and let her attend her class. Considering I know next to nothing about coding, it was a relief to just sit back and let her do her thing.
Friendly instructor
The instructor was so nice and friendly. My daughter tends to be a little shy and can take a while to open up to new people. She was also nervous having never been on a zoom call before. The instructor was able to work with her and keep the class moving along nicely despite that.

Creativity encouraged
I really enjoyed how the teacher encouraged my daughter to be as creative as she wanted to be. She didn’t try to push her own ideas of what the project should look like. She was patient and open to helping my daughter try out all of her ideas, even when they didn’t work out too well.
A finished project to show off
My daughter was so proud of the finished project she created. She was able to create a little mini-game within the hour. Having something tangible to show off at the end of the class helped make it an extra fun experience for her.
Easy to navigate
The instructors made the program and the software really easy to navigate. Anytime my daughter needed help or wasn’t sure how to do something, the instructor was right there to help. And when the program had a glitch or error, the instructor was able to quickly take over and get it fixed.
Learn through doing
I really enjoyed that the Eureka Champs Online Coding Classes teach by letting the children explore and make things. Especially at this age, I think this is the best way to teach children.
Who would Eureka Champs be a good fit for?
I think Eureka Champs is a great choice for anyone who wants their child to learn more about coding. However, here are a few families who I think would get the most out of this program:
Beginner coders: If your child is brand-new to coding, I think this program is a wonderful choice. Sometimes the self-paced programs can be a little overwhelming or confusing. With Eureka Champs, your child has someone to help walk them through it step-by-step.
Busy parents: If you’re a working homeschool mom like me or you have a lot going on at home, you might not have time to try and teach your kids how to code. With Eureka Champs, you don’t have to worry about it. You can make sure you’re kid is ready to go when it’s time for class and they’ll handle the rest.
Non-coding parents: I think this program is especially great for parents like me who don’t know how to code. It is literally a foreign language and I just don’t have the time to figure it out. If you’re in the same boat, Eureka Champs can help your child dive into the world of coding without you having to worry about learning it too.
